EasyJet pulls flights from Leeds Bradford airport

EasyJet will end all flights from Leeds Bradford Airport early next year, shifting its focus to routes with higher demand.

The airline announced on Wednesday that it would stop operating from the airport after January 5, 2027, following a review of its network. Passengers with existing bookings beyond that date have already been contacted about alternatives, including free transfers to flights from other airports or full refunds.

Routes affected and alternatives offered

EasyJet currently serves five destinations from Leeds Bradford: Barcelona, Belfast International, Majorca, Malaga, and Paris. Flights to Barcelona, Belfast, and Paris remain available for booking until early January, while Majorca and Malaga routes will close in early November.

The airline had also operated seasonal flights to Geneva in the past, though none are currently listed on its website. It did not specify whether any of the remaining routes would be cut earlier than scheduled.

“Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers,” the airline said in a statement. “We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand.”

The decision was made in coordination with the airport, according to a Leeds Bradford spokesperson, who confirmed the statement had been agreed in advance.

What this means for passengers and the airport

Leeds Bradford Airport remains served by several other airlines, including Jet2.com, Ryanair, TUI, KLM, Wizz Air, and SunExpress. Ryanair, for example, has introduced promotional fares of £29.99 on its Malaga route, which operates 10 times a week, as part of a broader effort to fill the gap left by EasyJet’s departure.

For travelers, the withdrawal marks the end of a long-standing connection. EasyJet has operated from Leeds Bradford for nearly two decades, and its exit reflects a broader trend of airlines consolidating routes to improve efficiency. Similar adjustments have been seen in other regional airports, where carriers have scaled back or redirected services to larger hubs with stronger passenger demand.

The airline did not disclose whether it would redeploy the aircraft or crew from Leeds Bradford to other bases. Its statement emphasized flexibility, noting that network decisions are made “with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand.”

Passengers who had already booked flights after January 5 have been given the option to rebook on alternative routes or receive a refund. The airline said it would continue to monitor demand and adjust its network as needed, leaving open the possibility of future operations at Leeds Bradford if conditions change.
