Jordan launches new tourism push for MENA travelers

Jordan’s tourism authority recently introduced a digital platform to streamline trip planning for visitors from the Middle East and North Africa. The service, developed in collaboration with travel search site Wego, aims to make travel arrangements more efficient.

One-stop booking for Jordan’s top destinations

The platform, named Ahlan Jordan, combines accommodation, transport, guided tours, and attraction tickets into ready-made itineraries. Travelers can reserve multi-day packages covering Petra, Wadi Rum, Amman, and the Dead Sea without coordinating each element separately.

Each package guarantees at least one overnight stay in Petra, moving away from the typical day-trip approach. Itineraries span three to eight days, including hotels, ground transportation, local guides, and entry to archaeological sites. Officials explained the purpose is to encourage visitors to stay longer and explore beyond Jordan’s most well-known sites.

In 2025, Jordan welcomed around 7 million international visitors, while tourism revenue reached approximately JOD5.5 billion. Tourism income accounted for about 13.2% of GDP, according to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. The first half of the year recorded 3.29 million international arrivals, an 18% year-on-year increase, including 2.72 million overnight visitors.

The figures underline the importance of initiatives that make Jordan easier to discover and book, particularly across nearby regional markets.

Marketing push targets MENA travelers at the planning stage

Wego and the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) will promote the platform through digital campaigns, editorial content, and destination features aimed at travelers in the Middle East and North Africa. The effort focuses on reaching users while they research and plan their trips.

Mamoun Hmidan, Wego’s Chief Business Officer, stated the partnership addresses travelers’ demand for both memorable experiences and hassle-free planning. “Travelers today want destinations that offer inspiring experiences alongside ease and convenience throughout their journey,” he said. “Through our work with the Jordan Tourism Board, we’re introducing Ahlan Jordan to the region, giving visitors an official platform that simplifies planning while showcasing the Kingdom’s diverse attractions.”

The campaign coincides with Jordan’s expansion of tourism offerings beyond its major attractions. The country hosts five UNESCO World Heritage sites—Petra, Wadi Rum, As-Salt, Umm ar-Rasas, and Al-Maghtas (the Baptism Site)—along with wellness retreats, food experiences, and urban tourism in Amman. Officials hope the platform will help visitors explore these options, turning initial interest in Petra into extended, varied trips.

This strategy resembles approaches used in other destinations seeking to shift visitor behavior away from single-site visits. Jordan faces a similar task: converting growing interest into lasting economic benefits. The partnership with Wego provides the tourism board a direct connection to travelers as they decide where to go and how to arrange their trips.

Currently, Ahlan Jordan targets regional markets where ease of booking is a major factor. Success could set a precedent for how destinations package and sell their attractions in a crowded travel market. Executives doing business in fast-paced cities may find such streamlined planning tools useful for their own travel needs, as time-saving strategies become increasingly valuable.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has outlined priorities including new tourism products, improved infrastructure, and expanded marketing to different segments. Ahlan Jordan represents one step toward these objectives, offering travelers a single place to organize their trip while helping Jordan convert interest into confirmed bookings.

Digital identity plays a key role in modern tourism promotion. Local initiatives like Curups’ online presence demonstrate how communities can strengthen their visibility and accessibility through digital platforms.
