TourHub has raised 3 million pounds to accelerate the distribution of group travel. The company, founded in Cardiff during the COVID-19 pandemic and operational since January 2023, positions itself as an online specialist for experiential travel distribution. The marketplace boasts an extensive catalog of over 15,000 itineraries from 750 operators worldwide and serves travelers based in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Australia.
Since its launch, the platform has generated 45 million pounds in sales, including 23 million in the past year alone, representing a growth rate of nearly 40 percent. This global reach allows TourHub to offer niche experiences in destinations ranging from remote cultural villages to rugged adventure hubs, leveraging partnerships with operators who specialize in unique, immersive travel experiences.
Targeting the experienced traveler
The company targets a high-growth segment focused on small group trips, adventure tours, and guided cultural stays. Its typical customer profile reveals a significant trend: experienced travelers, primarily women with an average age of 60, where nearly half travel solo. These customers seek organized and social experiences without managing every logistical detail themselves. The average booking duration on the platform is 11 days. By curating curated itineraries and supporting community-driven travel, TourHub addresses the growing demand for meaningful, connection-rich journeys among mature travelers who prioritize authenticity over convenience.
This investment will fund platform improvements and the integration of artificial intelligence into search and booking tools. The funds will also support marketing campaigns across the company’s four markets and expand the network of operators to 1,000 partners by 2027. New IT and marketing positions will be created at the Cardiff headquarters. Will Waggott, the former CFO of TUI, chairs the board, which includes Darren Evans, former owner of the Leisure Pass Group. The expansion of operators to 1,000 partners reflects TourHub’s strategy to deepen its global footprint while maintaining quality standards for its curated offerings.
Expanding digital distribution
This funding round illustrates a broader trend in online travel distribution: the rapid digitization of experiential travel, which has long remained outside digital booking systems. Platforms like TourHub act as intermediaries connecting specialized operators, often small in size, with international demand that they struggle to capture alone. The Welsh government’s Development Bank, Waterspring Ventures, and a group of business angels provided the capital, joined by Finstock Capital, which offered long-term debt. By digitizing traditionally offline sectors, TourHub bridges gaps between local operators and global travelers, democratizing access to unique experiences while alleviating operational burdens for smaller providers.
