Skyscanner’s latest French travel outlook indicates that 72% of residents expect to travel as much in 2027 as they do this year.
More than half of those respondents say they will trim the amount spent on airfare, redirecting funds toward on-site experiences.
The shift includes a stronger focus on activities, authenticity and visiting several cities, while steering clear of overtouristed hotspots; 30% aim for less-crowded spots near major attractions.
Artificial-intelligence tools are gaining traction: 23% use AI to compare flights and lodging, 22% seek destination information, and 19% rely on it for personalized itineraries.
“It is clear that travelers continue to allocate a share of their budget to travel and make it a priority, while seeking to get the most out of their bookings,” said Bryan Batista, Skyscanner’s CEO. “As AI gradually reshapes trip planning, brands that succeed will combine smart technology, reliable data, price transparency and experiences that let travelers book with confidence.”
These findings illustrate a broader move toward value-driven tourism, where convenience tools meet a desire for genuine, well-documented outings. Companies that can blend data-rich recommendations with transparent pricing are likely to earn lasting loyalty.
The survey also reveals strong curiosity about cultural and culinary specifics, noted by 27% of participants, and growing interest in environmental commitments, cited by 19%. This translates into a willingness to incorporate train travel or car-pooling into itineraries.
Other trends point to a yearning for screen-free disconnection, fitness opportunities and, pragmatically, favorable exchange rates. 59% of Generation Z and 47% of Millennials say exchange-rate considerations have reshaped their destination choices.
Skyscanner urges industry players to adapt by emphasizing authentic, unique experiences that are thoroughly documented, helping holidaymakers balance budget constraints with the pursuit of memorable trips. They recommend that companies focus on providing high-quality experiences that meet the changing needs of travelers.
By doing so, companies can build trust with their customers and establish a loyal customer base. It is essential for industry players to understand the evolving preferences of travelers and adapt their strategies accordingly. Skyscanner’s findings provide valuable insights into the changing market of the travel industry, and companies that take heed of these trends are likely to succeed in the long run.
