Jet2 is utilizing financial incentives to solidify its position at the regional hub following a strategic shift in the local aviation market. The airline is offering customers a £100 discount on all holiday bookings via the promotional code YORKSHIRE100. For those seeking flight-only options, the discount code YORKSHIRE10 provides 10% off fares. Both codes apply to all departures up to and including March 31, 2028. These specific promotional offers are available to book through August 31, 2026. The company stated that this initiative is designed to emphasize its “long-standing commitment to the airport, Yorkshire and holidaymakers across the region.”
easyJet confirmed it would end operations at Leeds Bradford following a routine review of its routes. The low-cost carrier currently serves five destinations from LBA, including Barcelona, Belfast International, Majorca, Malaga, and Paris. The departure creates a distinct gap in the point-to-point low-cost market at the airport. easyJet seeks to maintain and develop its “most popular” routes elsewhere in its network. The decision to pull out after January 5 reflects a broader shift in regional aviation strategy.

Jet2 has a long history with the airport, having started operations in 2003 with just two aircraft. Since those early days, the carrier has grown significantly and will maintain a substantial summer presence of 15 aircraft at LBA. The company is currently selling tickets to 65 destinations and plans to launch several new routes to meet continued demand. The new additions include destinations in Egypt such as Hurghada and Sharm el Sheikh, as well as locations in Tunisia, Preveza, Santorini, and Tivat.
Jet2 Chief Executive Steve Heapy highlighted the airline’s evolution since its inception in Yorkshire. Heapy noted that Jet2 has grown to become Yorkshire’s leading airline and tour operator since launching with just two aircraft. He expressed gratitude to loyal customers and independent travel agent partners for their support. “Our longstanding commitment to the region has never been stronger,” Heapy stated, adding that the company looks forward to providing holidaymakers with “the best experience and choice” for many years to come.
